Celebrate Black Lives!
By Tommie, Moses Lake Library
In celebrations of Black History Month, we often look back on the works of so many of the greats: Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Maya Angelou and
many more. These are incredible, important people who deserve our attention to the stories of their lives, their history, and their triumph. While
reading stories about history is vital to our understanding of the world, we also must read stories of love, joy, and celebration to better understand
the Black experience.
This month, on our website and social media sites, we are focusing on the history that brought our nation to the place where it is today, learning from past experiences in order to move forward and become better. We are shining a spotlight on just a handful of the hundreds of books written by Black authors and about the Black experience.
The books featured here have all been published in the last two years and are available through our library catalog today.
Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin Van Whye- Print
Class Act by Jerry Craft- Print
Twins by Varian Johnson- Print
While this list only includes works of fiction, there are hundreds of books written by Black authors that feature fantasy, sci-fi, western, and thriller settings. If you find books that you would like to read but are currently not available from NCW Libraries, we invited
you to submit a purchase suggestion.
