While NCRL library locations are closed, there are many popular book club titles that are available on Hoopla. When you borrow on Hoopla, there are no lines and all your club members can get the book at the same time!

Here are some popular titles available right now on Hoopla:

Can’t meet in person? No worries, here are some video conferencing options.that have been popular with book groups.

ZOOM

A very popular and easy to use free video conferencing service. It can host a large group of people (up to 100) and allows an unlimited number of meetings. A drawback is your meeting time is limited to 40 minutes (for a fee you can upgrade to pro and receive more minutes). Zoom also provides virtual backgrounds and a touch up my appearance tool so you always can look good for your book club meeting.

SKYPE

A tried and true video conferencing platform that has been around since 2003. Skype allows up to 50 people for audio or video conferencing. It does have a limit of 100 hours per month with no more than 10 hours per day for group video calls- but that is probably plenty of time to hold your book club meeting.

GOOGLE HANGOUTS

Google’s free video conferencing service allows you to invite up to 10 people for a group chat. So this may work for a smaller group.

GROUP FACETIME

If your book group members all have Apple devices Group FaceTime is another option. Using your iPhone, iPad (running iOS 12.1 or later), or Mac (with macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and up) you can video chat with up to 31 other people simultaneously.
