We know everyone in our communities is going through a hard time right now. Not being able to serve you in our library branches, in our bookmobiles, in your classrooms, and out in your communities has been hard on us, too. So we’re rolling out a new plan to bring the services we love to provide — story times, STEM projects, readers advisory, great new resources, and more — to you as you are isolating at home!

It won’t look the same, of course. We won’t be there in person. But through videos, blog posts, and social media, we will be sharing ideas to teach, to inspire, to entertain, and to nourish your soul during this challenging time.

Our Plan

We will be sharing a mix of content created by our staff — who are sheltering at home just like you — and great stuff already available on the internet that supports our mission and vision as a library system. For example, our bilingual outreach and children’s services staff will be making fun story time videos using their cell phones and finding other reading programs to share with you. Our STEM and outreach librarians will be posting ideas for projects you can do with items found around your home, like toilet paper tubes (you should have plenty of those!) and cardboard boxes. Our Book Clubs Manager has already put together a plan for continuing your book club even though you can’t meet in person (and where you can find books right now for your whole club!). We’ll have how-to videos for gaining access to our most popular online resources, and we may even suggest some things that might get your teenager’s attention.

We’ll be posting new content daily, so we invite you to check our website often and follow us on Facebook.

We can’t wait until this crisis has subsided and our normal library services can resume. But until then, we are committed to using all the resources available to us to stay connected with you in a variety of creative ways.
