As librarians, we love talking to anyone and everyone about books we’ve read, books you’ve read, books we’d like to read, but that never seem to leave our to-be-read piles, and books that haven’t yet been published, but that we are edge-of-our-seats excited about!
There are so many wonderful books published in a calendar year, so below we’re sharing with you some of NCW Libraries Staff’s most anticipated books from January – March 2021. Add these books to your list, keep an eye out for them on our shelves, or make your own suggestions for books you’d like NCW Libraries to purchase by filling out a purchase suggestion form! The second book in the best-selling authors’ Nora Kelly series, begun with Old Bones, this fresh installment features a new mystery for archaeologist Nora Kelly and rookie FBI agent Corrie Swanson, set in New Mexico and placing the two in danger once again. And, for those of us wondering, will there perhaps be another cameo from the exalted Agent Pendergast?
Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas
In this second installment in The Hate U Give series, Angie Thomas takes us back seventeen years to explore the life of Maverick Carter as he struggles to make a life for himself and his family in a way that is true to himself.
We Free the St ars by Hafsah Faizal
The end of Faizal’s Sands of Arawiya duology, We Free the Stars continues to follow Nasir and Zafira as they fight to bring magic back to their lands, and to hold on to each other. Will they succeed?
Dog Flowers: A Memoir by Daniele Geller
An account of the author’s late mother’s life and how her decisions affected the author throughout her life, Dog Flowers is a moving memoir that explores the author’s Navajo heritage, her family ties, and how these things have impacted and shaped her own life.

Kristin Hannah has captured many a heart with her writing, and we are excited to read The Four Winds – a tale about the resilience of women under incredible pressure and the drive to do anything for your family, no matter the cost.
The Survivors Harper brings us another thrilling tale, following our main character, Keiran, and set on the coast of Tasmania, where secrets from the past may end up tearing a family apart in the present. What does the death of a college student have to do with Keiran’s family, and is this somehow connected to his missing brother?
Spoils of the Dead by Dana Stabenow
Stabenow offers us another thrilling adventure alongside Trooper Liam Campbell in the Alaska wilderness as he works to uncover the perpetrator behind the murder of an archaeologist. This title is the fifth installment in the author’s Liam Campbell novels, and promises to be just as enjoyable as the first four!
Missing and Endangered by J.A. Jance
The most recent installment in Jance’s Sheriff Joanna Brady suspense novels, this tale makes it personal when Joanna’s daughter gets involved. Can Sheriff Brady help her daughter’s new roommate, or will things spiral too far out of anyone’s control?
Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado
Charlie Vega’s life isn’t always easy – her mom is always trying to get her to lose weight, she’s a brown girl living in a white world, and she’s tired of everyone trying to force her to be different than she is.
