This season is definitely looking different than summers of the past. With many kids’ camps canceled, online summer camp might be just the thing to keep your kids busy, entertained, and enriched this season.

Here are some FREE online camps to keep your family going all summer long!

  • Camp Kinda – Camp Kinda is a free virtual summer experience designed to keep kids in grades K-8 engaged, curious, and having fun—even if they’re stuck at home. It’s like summer camp… kinda.
  • Wide Open School – Activities created by Common Sense Media, which means you can trust that all the content is created by high-quality providers such as PBS, GoNoodle and Khan Academy. For kids in grades K-12.
  • Camp Wonderopolis – Fun, free STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts, and math—programs.
  • Happy Camper Live – From sports and arts and crafts to photography and magic, Happy Camper Live will give your kiddo a real camp feel at home—there’s even a virtual campfire!
  • PBS Kids – The PBS Kids for Parents site offers up free age-by-age tips, crafts, games, and activities to get you through summer.
  • Reading Rockets’ “Start with a Book” – With 24 topics—including dinosaurs, time travel, and sports—to choose from, your child will be matched with the books, corresponding activities, apps, and ideas to keep the fun going after the book’s done.
  • Met Opera Global Summer Camp – A free, eight-week online summer camp—running until August 7—for kids in 3rd-12th grades. Kids will get the chance to explore music in a new way with the Met’s extensive digital library of operas, plus creative projects to try at home, face time with music educators, and even opportunities to interact with Met artists.
  • CAMP@HOME – UNICEF USA’s CAMP@HOME is a free, philanthropic summer camp experience. This virtual camp gives kids a selection of videos on activities like sports, crafts, and cooking, and then prompts them to go practice what they just learned—off-screen. As campers complete these videos, food packets are “unlocked” for UNICEF to send to malnourished children around the world. Participating campers can even unlock donations for COVID-19 supplies for their communities.
  • Varsity Tutors – Tailored for specific grade levels—kindergarten and up—your kid can enjoy week-long camps in pretty much any subject that interests them!
  • Family Maker Camp – Maker Camp is exactly what it sounds like: kids (and families) make things, all kinds of things, using all kinds of materials. Upcoming live stream lessons include making a robot, making Father’s Day gifts, “Scrappy Circuits” and more. (Be sure to look at the materials list ahead of time.) You can also check out the library of previous Maker Camp sessions.
  • Camp YouTube – Choose between STEM, art, sports, and adventure-focused camps made up of video activities promoting learning, skills, and exploration. Video playlists are broken up into activities for teens and ones for younger kids, and families can use fun bingo cards to check off everything they accomplish over the summer.
  • Camp Tinkergarten – Get outdoor playtime activities delivered to your email inbox with this eight-week summer program. The activity kits include ideas, like how to have a Silly Summer Olympics; reading lists; and tips and support for parents. For ages 2–10.
  • The Lion King Experience: At Home – Originally designed for classrooms and adapted for home use, this immersive theater program teaches kids performance art through The Lion King. Each lesson plan contains videos, journal prompts, performances, and more. For ages 8–15.
  • DIY Summer Camp – Kids at any skill level can use the DIY’s app to enjoy virtual classes like, “Photography,” “Become a Music Star,” “Build Anything With Lego,” and “Drawing Bootcamp.” Try a 14-day free trial!
