Makerspaces
Makerspace: People gathering to create, invent, and learn.
Traditionally, the role of the public library has been to provide materials and resources so that anyone can learn about any topic of their choosing.
Our makerspace programs take this role one step further by offering hands-on opportunities that bring learning, innovation, and creativity together. Check out our current list of tools and technology, and look for makerspace events at a library near you.
- Workshops: These programs will introduce you to new tools and technology. We may offer some instructional time to get you started, but we'll encourage you to learn and create at your own pace.
- Open Labs: These sessions provide you with tools and technology but no instructional time. Some open labs (like our 3D printing labs) require that you have previously attended a workshop.
- Clubs: These groups meet regularly to learn and create together. You may work on one project as a group, or you may be encouraged to bring your own projects to work on and share with other makers.
Begin by learning how something works.
Use what you learn to solve a problem.
Let your curiosity drive you to create something completely new.
