Bestselling young adult author Ruta Sepetys will visit six schools in our library district and give a community talk in Wenatchee during the first week of December!

Her award-winning book Between Shades of Gray tells the story of a Lithuanian family living an ordinary life until Soviet officers
invade their home, force them into a crowded train and enslave them at a Siberian work camp. The story is told through the eyes of 15-year-old Lina,
who finds solace in her art and documents the events by drawing. Risking everything, she imbeds clues in her drawings of their location and secretly
passes them along, hoping her drawings will make their way to her father’s prison camp.

During her visit, Sepetys will meet with students at Cashmere, Pateros, Liberty Bell, Moses Lake and Warden high schools
on Dec 5, 6 and 7. The sixth school is still being negotiated.

She will also host a community talk on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Wenatchee High School. We have created an events page on Facebook to provide updates on that event. And our NCRL Facebook Book Club will be discussing her book over the
next several weeks. Join that conversation here.

You can find a copy of her book Between Shades of Gray at your local library or order it through our Mail Order Library here.
You can also find her other books at our libraries.
