Día, or Children’s Day/Book Day, is a country-wide initiative that celebrates multicultural literacy. Inspired by the Mexican holiday Día del Niño (Children’s Day), renowned children’s author Pat Mora first proposed the idea of creating a similar holiday in the U.S. and linking it to reading in 1996. This year, we are celebrating Día ’s 25th anniversary.
