NCW Libraries Latino Services Department has added 10 Citizenship Kits to the library collection.

Each kit includes materials published by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service that provide the information needed for the United States Naturalization exam including:

  • Civics flash cards for the Naturalization Exam in both English and Spanish
  • Preparation for the Naturalization Test: A Pocket Study Guide
  • Learn about the United States: Quick Civics Lessons for the Naturalization Test
  • Laminated sample questions from the Naturalization Test, Maps, and Resource Lists
  • 5×7 White Board, Eraser, and Marker

The goal of making these kits available is to offer an option for individuals who want to study on their own or who don’t have access to citizenship classes offered by NCW Libraries or other organizations. The Citizenship Kits can be placed on hold online or at your local library and they can be picked up and returned at your local library. Due to the size, they cannot be mailed or returned in a library drop box.

These kits align with NCW Libraries strategic direction to meet critical community needs by providing relevant services, programs and resources.  They are meant to supplement NCW Libraries Citizenship programs and study groups currently held at the Biblioteca Peshastin on Thursdays from 4:30-6PM and at the Biblioteca Quincy on Sundays from 2-3PM.

NCW Libraries is also hosting several Know Your Rights programs in March. The programs are lead in Spanish by attorneys from the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project. The attorneys will review the basic rights of every person in the United States, regardless of citizenship or legal status. This is a great program for community advocates and anyone interested in learning more about how to protect their own rights as well as the rights of their family, friends, and loved ones.

Tuesday, March 11 from 6-7:30PM at the Cashmere Library

Wednesday, March 12 from 6-7PM at the Brewster Library

Thursday, March 20 from 5-6PM at the Chelan Library
