Veterans Day is a federal holiday on Nov. 11 that honors all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is a celebration of the services of all veterans, both living and deceased.

The holiday originated from Armistice Day, which marked the end of World War I in 1918. It’s name was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 to include all veterans of all wars.

The day not only honors those who have served and are serving in the military, but it shows appreciation for their sacrifice and reflects on the challenges that veterans can face when returning home and transitioning to civilian life.

Our Collections team has curated a special reading list for the holiday.
