We are excited to be adding Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee to list of schools that bestselling author Ruta Sepetys will be visiting during her upcoming three-day residency in North Central Washington.

She will also give talks at Cashmere, Pateros, Liberty Bell, Moses Lake and Warden High Schools.

She will also host a community talk on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Wenatchee High School. We have created an events page on Facebook to provide updates on that event. And our NCRL Facebook Book Club will continue discussing her book over the next few weeks. Join that
conversation here.

Her schedule during the visit will be:

  • Dec. 5: Eastmont High School, Cashmere High School, Community Event at Wenatchee High School
  • Dec. 6: Pateros High School and Liberty Bell Jr./Sr. High School
  • Dec. 7: Moses Lake High School and Warden High School

Her award-winning book Between Shades of Gray tells the story of a Lithuanian family living an ordinary life until Soviet officers
invade their home, force them into a crowded train and enslave them at a Siberian work camp. The story is told through the eyes of 15-year-old Lina,
who finds solace in her art and documents the events by drawing. Risking everything, she imbeds clues in her drawings of their location and secretly
passes them along, hoping her drawings will make their way to her father’s prison camp.

You can find a copy of her book Between Shades of Gray at your local library or order it through our Mail Order Library here.
You can also find her other books at our libraries.
