This new library is the result of a community led effort spearheaded by Susan Piercy as well as Alba Trail, Elisha Cox, and other members of the Royal City Friends of the Library with support from local donors and community members. Construction of the library was truly a family affair. Gary Piercy and his son-in-law Jacob, were the General Contractors for the project which significantly reduced the project cost.

The Value of Public/Private Partnership

The new Royal City Public Library building is a testament to the power of public/private partnerships. The Royal City Friends of the Library raised over $700,000 to fund this project including a $500,000 donation from the Lauzier Foundation. NCW Libraries is proud to support the vision and investment of the Royal City Friends of the Library through our Reimagining Spaces Project – a $10 million investment in library spaces across our region. Since the Royal City Public Library building project happened concurrently with NCW Libraries Reimagining Spaces Project, NCW Libraries was able to invest over $335,000 into the new library through community engagement, interior design work, new furniture and shelving, interior and exterior signage, window coverings, security systems, and updated technology.

The new library building is currently owned by the Royal City Friends of the Library who are donating the building to the municipality of Royal City this summer.

Join the celebration of the power of community and the future of learning and connection in Royal City!

Regular library hours are anticipated to resume on Tuesday, July 15th at 10AM.
