Last year, people across North Central Washington walked through our doors 660,437 times.
They visited our 30 libraries across five counties and accessed our bookmobile and mail order services when making it to the library was a challenge. They came for storytime and ukulele lessons, for citizenship classes and needle felting, for job applications and benefits paperwork and telehealth appointments. They came because the library was open, and free, and theirs.

A few things that happened in 2025
- 57,630 people attended 3,941 programs
- 1,220,308 items borrowed, saving our neighbors more than $17 million
- 136,737 computer sessions — job searches, bill paying, schoolwork, video calls home
- Free Wi-Fi accessed 748,504 times, in and around our buildings
- 37,216 items mailed directly to homes through our Mail Order Library
- 6,909 people took part in the Summer Library Program
But the numbers are the smallest part of the story
At the Republic Library in Ferry County, a partnership with Feeding Ferry County means patrons can now pick up free meal kits and snacks during open hours — no questions asked. For families stretching a budget at the end of the month, a library visit can mean groceries, free printing, and a book to take home.
At the Wenatchee Rescue Mission, one of our Bookmobile’s regular stops, a patron named Susie came by on a hard day. What she needed most wasn’t a book. It was someone to listen and care.
That’s the part that doesn’t show up in a bunch of numbers. It’s the part our staff do every single day, in small towns and big ones, across a region that is rugged, remote, and deeply resilient.

Ninety-five cents of every dollar that funds NCW Libraries comes directly from the communities we serve. That’s a real investment, and we take seriously what it means to steward it well. The report includes a full look at our 2025 revenue and expenses, including the rising costs we’re navigating alongside everyone else.
Libraries belong to all of us. They’re places to learn, connect, find support, and feel welcome.
