We are excited to host the community for a Grand Opening Celebration at the Brewster Public Library on Saturday, January 13th from 11AM – 1PM.
While the Brewster Library has been open since mid-December, let’s pause and celebrate all the hard work that went into the beautiful interior refresh of the space.
Help us honor the work of library staff, Brewster City staff and council members, Friends of the Library, and the community. Our local partners were instrumental in the success of this project, we are so thankful!
Come explore our updated space and see the new signage, entry, paint, artwork, furniture, family zone, quiet workspace, and more! Our event will feature cake, face painting, a selfie station, and door prizes. It is free and open to the public, all ages are welcome.
The Brewster Library was the prototype location for our Reimagining Spaces Project. Through this project, our Board of Trustees is investing $10 million of capital reserves into community library spaces. These funds are separate from the district’s annual operating budget.
The goal of the Reimagining Spaces Project is to ensure every library is safe, welcoming, and reflects the needs and personality of the local community. All while sparking creativity and joy.
While library buildings are primarily owned and maintained by local communities, NCW Libraries provides everything else including staffing, collections, technology, furniture, programs, etc. Through the Reimagining Spaces Project, we are updating the library interiors including furniture, fixtures, technology, artwork, lighting, security, and signage.
These interior updates are only possibly through close community partnerships with cities and building owners who support the project and maintain the buildings.
The Reimagining Spaces Project will occur in phases over the next several years. Currently, community engagement and design work is happening in Curlew, Peshastin, Ephrata, and Soap Lake.
