A quarter century after the September 11, 2001 attacks, over 100 million Americans are too young to remember the day that changed our nation forever.
As we commemorate this 25th anniversary, a new generation will learn about the unimaginable loss we experienced. They will also learn about the countless inspiring stories of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that we witnessed, and have rippled through the decades.
The terrorists attacks on that day claimed 2,977 lives from 90 countries. The death toll included 2,753 people at the World Trade Center site, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 aboard United Airlines Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
