A Place of Welcome, Care, and Belonging

Libraries have always been places where people come to learn, connect, and feel a sense of belonging. At NCW Libraries, we remain committed to being a welcoming space for everyone in our community – especially during times when many may be feeling uncertainty, worry, or fear.

Our region is enriched by people of many backgrounds, languages, cultures, and lived experiences. We believe that access to information, education, and community resources helps strengthen understanding and connection across differences. Our libraries exist to serve the whole community, and our doors are open to all.

Resources that Reflect Our Community

NCW Libraries offers multilingual collections including books and movies for children, teens, and adults. These collections are shaped by local needs and reflect the languages and cultures present in our communities.

Stories of Arrival Reading List

We also curate reading lists and displays that explore the immigrant experience in America – stories of arrival, resilience, identity, and belonging. These materials invite readers to learn from one another and deepen understanding through shared stories.

Learning, Support, and Civic Resources

Libraries play an important role in providing access to practical information and learning opportunities. NCW Libraries offers Citizenship Study Kits that patrons can borrow to prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Exam, along with regular citizenship study groups and educational programs.

In addition, our libraries host free classes, workshops, and community programs designed to support lifelong learning, connections, and personal growth. These programs are open to all and reflect our commitment to meeting community needs.

A Safe and Welcoming Public Space

During periods of extreme heat or cold, NCW Libraries locations serve as warming and cooling centers, free public spaces where anyone can find relief from extreme temperatures. These services are part of our commitment to care for the wellbeing of our community.

Our Ongoing Commitment

NCW Libraries is guided by values of access, respect, and belonging. While people in our service area may hold a wide range of perspectives, we share a common goal for spaces that are safe, welcoming, and grounded in kindness.

Our libraries will continue to offer resources and services that reflect the diversity of our region and support our community through learning, connection, and care.
