What better time than during the quarantine to check out some funny self help books! Find some tips and tricks for self improvement with a good chunk of humor.

Book Riot recently posted a list of Funny Self Help Books (for growns up only). Book Riot also gathered a list of 20 Personal Development Books for your Best 2020.

Most of those titles are also available on Hoopla or Overdrive. Get started at www.ncrl.org/ebooks.

We also polled a few of our staff members to see what their favorite self help books are!

Our Director of Public Services, Angela Morris suggests The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu, Quiet by Susan Cain, and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.

Our Book Club Coordinator, Anne Brangwin recommends Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed.

Our Children’s Services Manager Abby Osborn recommends Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. Theses books as well as Rachel Hollis’s follow up book, Girl Stop Apologizing, are available on both Overdrive and Hoopla.

Adult Services Manager Amanda Brack recommends Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. Both are available through Overdrive.
