North Central Regional Library and Humanities Washington will bring two speakers to Wenatchee and Moses Lake this month.
Actor and public speaker Monica Cortés Viharo will present “Always On: How to Turn Up the Volume on Everyday Communication” at 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at Wenatchee Public Library, 30 S. Wenatchee Ave.
Drawing from philosophy and psychology, Viharo explores the roles we play in our lives — and demonstrates how to communicate confidently in all situations. This discussion offers practice exercises for combatting performance anxiety and being a confident public speaker.
Viharo previously served as the interim director of the University of Washington Speaking Center.
Then Amy Peloff, who teaches gender, women and sexuality studies at the University of Washington, will present “Pop Culture in the #MeToo Era” at the Wenatchee and Moses Lake libraries.
Peloff will explore the cultural and economic issues inherent in consuming entertainment made by people whose behaviors we find questionable, distasteful or even criminal. This program contains mature themes.
She will speak at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Moses Lake Public Library and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Wenatchee Public Library.
