LINK TRANSIT AND NCW LIBRARIES LAUNCH PASSPORT PROGRAM TO ENCOURAGE READING AND RIDING THIS SUMMER
NCW Libraries and Link Transit are teaming up this summer to make exploring your local library an adventure. The Link the Libraries Passport program launches June 1 and runs through August 31, encouraging community members to ride Link buses to libraries across Chelan and Douglas counties, and earn prizes along the way.
“We want people to discover that getting to the library is part of the fun,” said Amanda Brack, Communications Manager, NCW Libraries. “Whether you’re a frequent rider or hopping on the bus for the first time, this passport is your ticket to a summer full of stories and adventure.”
The program is simple. Pick up a free passport at Link Transit’s Columbia Station or at any of NCW Libraries’ Chelan and Douglas County libraries or bookmobile. Then, hop on a Link bus, and explore more library locations. Each library visit earns a stamp, and collecting stamps means earning prizes. All nine participating libraries are accessible by Link Transit routes with buses running every 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the location.
“Link Transit exists to connect people to the places and opportunities that matter most in our community,” said Jennifer Dolge, Marketing Manager, Link Transit. “Partnering with NCW Libraries is a natural fit. We’re excited to help riders of all ages discover that the bus is a great way to get to their next great read.”
The passport includes bus route and stop information for all nine libraries, tips for new riders, library information for young visitors, and activity pages to complete along the way. It also includes information about Link Transit’s Travel Training Program, available for anyone who wants one on one guidance before riding independently.
Participating libraries include branches in Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Peshastin, Leavenworth, Entiat, Chelan, Manson, and Waterville. The program is free and open to all ages.
