When we told you that we were looking for a bigger temporary home for the Chelan Library, we meant it. And, we found one!
On Friday, August 21, our lobby pop-up at the Chelan Library will close. Then, on Monday, August 31, we will open a new, temporary pop-up library at the old Chelan Hospital, now known as the HUB: Lake Chelan Business Center, 503 E. Highland Avenue #207. This temporary library will be open through the end of the year while the City of Chelan’s structural repairs move forward.
What you’ll find in the new space. Our little lobby pop-up did a lot. This new one offers even more:
- More shelving and a bigger browsing collection – actual room to wander and find something new
- More public computers plus printing, scanning, and faxing
- Space for programs!! We will have room to gather, not just grab and go
- A more comfortable place to be and work for both patrons and staff
Holds pick up will continue. Your library card works exactly the same way it always has, here and at all 30 of our NCW Libraries locations.
Let’s Be Honest
This is a temporary space and it looks like one. Our facilities team is painting it right now. We are doing what we can to make it warm and welcoming on a limited budget. We want to save our Reimagining Spaces dollars for our permanent location. We can’t wait to move into our structurally sound, renovated library in 2027!

The City of Chelan is on a solid path to completing the structural repairs safely and within budget. We are moving to the temporary location so we can offer better and safer library service during the closure.
