NCW Libraries is once again partnering with Write on the River to sponsor a short fiction contest for NCW teens.

This annual competition gives teens the opportunity to share their original creative work with our great community — and the chance to earn cash prizes provided by Write on the River.

All students in grades 9 to 12, including private and home school students, are encouraged to submit their original short fiction. Submissions can be a complete short story or the first chapter of a novel. The writing must be the student’s own original, unpublished work written by them without the assistance of artificial intelligence chatbots. Students may submit one piece of writing per year.

The submission deadline is May 15, 2023.
