We live in divided times. While there is much to learn from our differences, lately, our differences seem to divide and limit how we communicate and connect with family, friends, or co-workers.

Join us for a 90-minute virtual program on November 9th to learn about the power of curiosity-driven conversations with Seattle-based author Mónica Guzmán. Mónica will demonstrate how having critical conversations with people — instead of about them — changes everything, and how taking the first steps toward understanding the views that most confound us isn’t just possible, it’s easier than you think.

The program will be Nov. 9, 7-8:30 p.m.

Mónica is a Seattle-based author, a bridge builder, and a Washington State Book Award Finalist who believes that curiosity is the most powerful tool we have to navigate our world, especially when our world is dangerously divided. She says, “If you can’t be curious across divides in a polarized world, you can’t see the world at all.”

Her book, I Never Thought Of It That Way: How To Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times, offers tools to fight back against the confusion, heartbreak, and madness.

NCW Libraries has the book available for checkout in physical and digital formats. print, ebook, eaudio. There will also be a limited number of books available at all 30 of our library locations that can be borrowed on the honor system without a library card.

With the approaching holidays, big elections in 2024, and a need for a more connected future, please join us for this informative conversation to gain new perspectives and tools for communicating more effectively.
